Request account deletion
You can request deletion of your VortAR account from inside the app at any time.
After you request it, there is a 30-day grace period. If you cancel during that period, your account and data are restored as they were.
Once 30 days have passed, the account’s data is deleted by a deletion process that runs every day.
How to request deletion
Instead of leaving, you can also “Take a break”, which keeps your profile, photos and connections while you’re away (available 30 days after you sign up; it is offered first when you open the screen below).
You can request account deletion at any time from [My Page] → [⚙️ Settings] → [Delete account & data] in the app. If the “Take a break” option appears first, tap [Leave anyway] to continue to the deletion request.
Besides deleting your whole account, you can also request deletion of only some data, such as photos, location history, messages or your detailed profile, from the same screen.
If you can’t log in to the app, email ops@vortar.jp from your registered email address. After confirming that it is you, we will process the deletion.
What happens next
- 1. Request — On the deletion screen in the app, check “I understand the above” and tap [Request account deletion] (if the “Take a break” option appears first, tap [Leave anyway] before that).
- 2. 30-day grace period — During this time, “Cancel deletion” on the same screen restores your account and data as they were. The days remaining are shown on the screen.
- 3. Permanent deletion — Once 30 days have passed, the account’s data is deleted by the daily deletion process (5:15 Japan time). Because each run has a limit on how many accounts it processes, the actual deletion may happen the next day or later.
If you are on a paid plan
Deleting your account does not stop your plan from renewing automatically. Cancel first from your store’s Subscriptions.
- iPhone: App Store subscriptions
- Android: Google Play subscriptions
What is deleted
- Profile information (nickname, photos, bio, etc.)
- Location information and usage history
- Messages and chat history (stored on your side)
- History of Sparks (likes) sent and received
- Billing and subscription information (*no refunds for unused periods)
- Account login credentials
What is not deleted
- Messages, Sparks, footprints (Trace), ratings, reports, blocks and so on that have already been sent or received —data kept as the other person’s records. These may remain until their respective retention periods end or until the other person deletes them.
- An audit record of the fact of deletion (only the date and time of deletion, the reason, and the date and time of the request). This record contains nothing that identifies you.
- For accounts suspended for violating the Terms, a value used to check re-registration (an irreversible value made from the email address and phone number) is kept for the period in Privacy Policy 3-2 (2 years from the last suspension, or 15 years for suspensions due to fraud, sexual exploitation, threats or violence). It is not kept for suspensions because the user is under 18.
- After leaving, you can sign up again with the same email address. However, accounts suspended for violating the Terms can restart only after buying the required plan or higher, depending on the number of suspensions (1st: Aurora, 2nd: Star, 3rd or later: Galaxy), and serious violations cannot sign up again.
